Inspiration from 2015’s OMiG Best Blog Winner
Rebecca Casserly of www.becboop.com – Best Blog 2015
With the deadline to the 2016 OMiG awards quickly approaching some of last year’s winners were kind enough to answer some questions for us.
Read our series of interviews and learn how digital marketing is evolving in their businesses.
What impact did the OMiG award have on your digital marketing campaign?
This was my first blogging award and for BecBoop to be recognised as Best Blog by OMiG in my home city of Galway means a lot to me. I moved to London shortly after winning Best Blog and having the recognition behind me really stood to my campaign proposals with brands in London. The publicity I received both in press and online after the win was fantastic. Since then I have been featured in local and national press, been interviewed on radio channels and been featured in publications in London.
BecBoop has recently been named the number 4 beauty blogger influencer in the world by Onalytica.com and winning the OMiG award last year really motivated me to develop my blog further. With my prize money I invested in a good quality camera which is great for taking to events and taking blog photos on the go. Since the camera has Wi-Fi this is an added bonus for a blogger as I can upload good quality photos straight away.
How has your digital marketing strategy evolved since last year’s win?
At the time of my win for Best Blog at last year’s awards I had just started using live-streaming mobile app Periscope. Now one year later with over 35,000 followers I have become one of the leading global broadcasters on the app having covered high profile events in Ireland and London. My social media following is now in excess of 100,000 across all platforms and my blog is currently undergoing a web design set for a re-launch very soon!
Which social media channel has most impact for your business?
It is without a doubt, Periscope. As an early adopter of the social media channel I was able to incorporate it seamlessly with my blog leading to a recent announcement that I am the number 4 beauty blogger influencer in the world in terms of twitter impressions via @BoopFashionista (source Onalytica.com). I have been invited to cover London Fashion Week twice through my Periscope channel and other high profile events and campaigns. I have also been asked to speak about Periscope and the value of live-streaming for bloggers and business at numerous conferences in Ireland and internationally.
My time is very valuable since I run my blog BecBoop.com alongside a full-time job as an audit manager at a large global firm. Thus Periscope works perfectly for me – it is live and so there is no post-production time necessary for editing which is the case with YouTube. It is also the most engaging platform out there in my opinion. I have an amazing community on Periscope, known as the #BoopTroop and together we have been involved in some fantastic campaigns this year including raising over £1,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust via my channel.

What is the funniest campaign you have seen recently?
It was the Taylor Swift Apple Music campaign.
How do you integrate your online and offline marketing efforts?
As a blogger and live-streamer every marketing effort for BecBoop is online apart from public speaking at events and conferences.
