What is the difference between free and paid tools? Lillian – “Large organisations will find the paid for, more advanced tool useful but as a smaller business there is a wealth of free paid for tools out there. Understanding the tool is the most important thing, not just spending the money on getting the ‘best’ tool.”

Top tips from Maciej Dabrowski of Altocloud.
- Always challenge the quality of your data.
- You won’t know if your data is accurate if you only use one tool.
- Less is more sometimes when it comes to data. The right reports are key.
- Analyse your data carefully. In the picture below the green slice looks the largest at first glance, right? This is done my a slight tilt of the graph and the colour used. Never trust a 3D pie chart!

Aislinn Connolly- Think of ‘goals’ as the purpose of your website. Setting up goals in your google analytics is imperative to measuring the success/ failures of your website.
The e-commerce report is especially useful for people who are selling a product/ service on their website.

Google Analytics tips from Aislinn Connolly. “Measurement & data analytics can be daunting. But use Google Analytics to track customers on your website.”
- Annotations – allows you to attach notes on the graph. Give your activity a description.
- Acquisitions, Conversions & Behaviours – key measurements you need to know in Google Analytics.
- Want to know if your business is making money? Location traffic can indicate your biggest current or potential markets.
- Its one thing getting people to your website but its another thing to actually know what they are doing on your site.
- A high bounce rate is an indication for concern. Anything over 30% should be looked into in further detail.
- Average load time for a website page should be no higher than 3.
“Without a shadow of a doubt the future of website users are in mobile.”

Question from the audience – For a start up business interested in Content Marketing, what should you not do?
Aaron Chalke – Don’t shakle yourself to what you cannot do. As a start up you have more freedom than a lot of mid to large sized brands and companies. At this stage be open to everything.
Natalie Roper – Don’t feel like you have to create brand ads in video form to compete with others. Generally views from these come from heavy promotion and large cost. The views are rarely organic. Written content can be much more cost effective and have a much wider reach.
Grainne Redmond – Don’t go against your research when under pressure and don’t do anything without doing research.
